Chemka Hot Springs, also known as Kikuletwa, is a natural oasis between Arusha and Moshi. Crystal-clear, warm water bubbles up from underground into a turquoise pool surrounded by tall fig trees and palms — a surprising green paradise in the dry savannah.
It is the perfect place to relax after a safari or a Kilimanjaro climb. Swim, float, jump in from the rope swing, or simply sit in the shade with a picnic lunch.
Pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and drive to the springs (about 1 hour from Moshi, 1.5 hours from Arusha), the last part on a rural dirt road.
Spend several hours swimming in the warm, clear water, trying the rope swing and relaxing in the shade.
Enjoy a picnic lunch beside the springs.
Drive back to your hotel in the afternoon.
The water is comfortably warm — around body temperature — rather than hot, so it is pleasant for swimming all year round.
Yes. Children love it, but the pool is deep in places, so non-swimmers should stay near the edges or bring a life jacket.
