7 Days Rongai Route Kilimanjaro Climb

7 Days / 6 Nights Min Age: 10 Years Private Climb Camping Difficulty: Moderate-Challenging

Route Overview

The Rongai Route is the only route approaching Kilimanjaro from the north, near the Kenyan border. It is the most remote and least-trafficked route, offering a true wilderness experience with excellent wildlife spotting opportunities — you may see elephants, buffalo, and colobus monkeys on the lower slopes.

The northern side of the mountain receives less rainfall making Rongai the best choice for climbers visiting during the wet seasons (March–May and November). The 7-day itinerary descends via Marangu for variety, passing Horombo and Mandara huts.
